Winter on the Atherton Tablelands is between June and August with temperatures ranging from 5 degrees at night to 22 degrees during the day. Summer is between December and March with temperatures ranging from 17 degrees during the night to 33 degrees during the day. The humidity is much lower on the Tablelands than in the Cairns and coastal areas. Temperatures can vary up to 8 degrees cooler than the coastal area.
Please ensure that you bring your hats, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes and cameras. If you are travelling to the outback part of the Tablelands, please make sure you have medication scripts filled in before you travel as there are normally no chemists located in the smaller towns. Atherton is the last town with chemists along the Savannah Way to Karumba.
